Our Middle School Music Program builds on the choral and instrumental foundation set in our Lower School and enhances instruction to provide you a wider variety of performance and lesson options. At this level, individual training is also available for students with advanced musical proficiency and interest.

Our Middle School Chorus serves as the primary mechanism for musical instruction, which includes an advanced understanding of the Elements of Music and the Elements of Performance through a varied repertoire of choral selections. Students master harmonies, musical form, and intermediate rhythms, and demonstrate their abilities at choral performances for the school community, family, and friends throughout the year. Through singing and performance, you develop an advanced ability to reading and listen to music against the backdrop of various historical periods within the music tradition, which allows you to cultivate a deeper appreciation of music and performing arts.

Through our Middle School Instrumental Music Program, you have access to small group and individual instruction, band rehearsals, and numerous performance selections and opportunities within the Ursuline Wind and Percussion Ensemble. Small group instruction occurs during Middle School Music Classes and teaches individual playing techniques, reading skills, and music theory, increasing your instrumental proficiency in preparation for ensemble opportunities in the Upper School. All students may participate in both of our band and choral groups, which include some off-campus performance trips within our local and regional communities.
