Ursuline Academy’s STEAM Camp is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls from any school, providing them with the opportunity to explore the world of STEM and the Arts in a one week program.
This year’s camp theme is Eat Your Science!
Most science experiments might as well wear a big “DO NOT EAT” sign. However, at STEAM camp we are throwing that warning out. These fun food science projects are 100% taste-test-approved. Campers will explore the science behind the food. They will investigate topics like Thermodynamics while making ice cream, and Chemistry while making butter. Campers will also use the engineering design process to create a snack machine and innovate the creation of a “new food.”
On the Art side, campers will combine some of the ideas explored in science along with some art principles to create edible materials and artworks! They will create an edible stained glass design, work with marshmallow treats and edible Play-Doh and slime to create sculptures and experiment with photography to capture a rainbow candy activity.
