Spirituality

Ursuline Academy is a Catholic school rooted in the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a faith-filled community that embraces and lives the Gospel on and off campus. Both Catholics and non-Catholics attend and teach at Ursuline. Each individual can take advantage of an environment that allows religious education to be a valued part of daily life. Our curriculum instills strong personal faith in our students and stresses spiritual development, prayer, sacramental life, doctrine, moral development, and social justice.

All students, from the Lower School through the Upper School, take a Religion class throughout the year. Guided by the example of our foundress, St. Angela Merici, we seek to instill a deep faith and a genuine concern for the well-being of others in each of our students. We gather as a community to celebrate the Liturgy of the Mass on Holy Days and for special milestones in the lives of our students. The Middle and Upper Schools participate in an annual spiritual retreat, which allows them to bond as a class and take time away to consider their faith life. Students are invited to take quiet time to pray in our beautiful chapel throughout the day

Retreats

Middle School

The Middle school takes a day away together to participate in group activities, learn more about their faith, and participate in a Teaching Mass where they learn the history behind the Liturgy we celebrate at school.

UPPER SCHOOL: 9th, 10th, & 11th Grade

In the Upper School, Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors have a one-day retreat off campus where they participate in small group activities, listen to talks, take time for reflection, and have a chance to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

UPPER SCHOOL: 12th Grade

The senior class participates in a multi-day "Kairos" retreat to help them get to know God, themselves, and their classmates better. This retreat is a great way to bond as a class mid-way through their senior year.
