Bio

Marguerite Gomes, Class of 1957 has remained dedicated to Ursuline and our motto of Serviam since her high school graduation. She attended the College of New Rochelle and entered Ursuline Novitiate in 1959 before taking her first vows in 1962.  She completed a 16 year mission in Brazil as a teacher and youth minister before marrying Hevandro “Andy” Gomes and returning to Ursuline in Wilmington, Delaware to teach religion in our upper school for 10 years. Since then she has been a Parish Director of Religious Education, a member of the Global Solidarity Committee in the diocese of Wilmington, and a coordinator for “Called to Excellence,” a Diocesan Evaluation program for parish religious education programs.  Marguerite has also been a member of the local group of Ursuline Lay Associates since 1991.  She remains a volunteer at St. Matthews Parish, continues to substitute teach in our upper school, and serves annually as a leader for our Senior Kairos retreat.  She enjoys bowling and Irish dance, and is an advocate for the Guatemalan community in Wilmington.
