Gerald T. Doherty

Jerry’s professional career has revolved around the commercial construction industry in Delaware and the surrounding states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. For the past 31 years, he has worked for EDiS Company, a Wilmington headquartered construction management firm with offices in Media, Pennsylvania and Lewes, Delaware. Prior to his retirement in 2022, Jerry was President of the firm, leading all construction operations. EDiS Company is over 100 year-old family owned business with major market focus in K-12 and secondary education projects as well as health care, pharmaceutical, and institutional facilities.

Jerry was born in Wilmington and has remained a life-long Delawarean. He graduated  from the University of Delaware, where he met his wife, Laura. His extended family has ties throughout the Wilmington area and directly to Ursuline Academy. His father completed primary school at Ursuline and his aunt, Helen Doherty, ’54, returned to  Ursuline after college to teach math for many years and was credited with starting the Ursuline basketball program.

Interest in Ursuline’s success grew after Jerry’s company was selected in 2016 to  renovate the Convent Building to create the new Student Life Center. Working alongside those dedicated, strong leaders whose primary interest is to instill the qualities of leadership and service in their students provided strong motivation to become part of the Ursuline community.
